256 MB DDR3 running @ 256bit is good enough. But if u want 2 play at higher resolution & with all possible eyecandies on.. then go 4 512 MB DDR3 or DDR4 with 256/512bit.
And remember ur graphics chipset is also more liable to tune games smoother. ATI X600 or Geforce 6600 is capaple 2 run modern games.. but in lower resolution & less details. For higher resolution & possible eyecandies u should go for GF7600GS or ATIx800. Now GF7950GX & ATIX1600 is available. Every thing depends on ur budget. 6600 is at 4K, 7600GS at 8.5K & 7950 at 38K.

to play ordinary games u need 128 mb atleast and 256 could be better if u r going to play the high ended graphic games that came after 2002 , use gforce graphic , nvida , or raedon graphic first make sure ur computer is compactable to it, check the compactibility of the motherboard u use,

256 MB DDR3 working @ 256bit is stable adequate. yet while u choose for 2 play at bigger decision & with all achieveable eyecandies on.. then circulate 4 512 MB DDR3 or DDR4 with 256/512bit. And keep in mind ur snap shots chipset is likewise extra in probability of track video games smoother. ATI X600 or Geforce 6600 is capaple 2 run cutting-edge video games.. yet in decrease decision & much less info. For bigger decision & achieveable eyecandies u could choose for GF7600GS or ATIx800. Now GF7950GX & ATIX1600 is accessible. each element relies upon on ur budget. 6600 is at 4K, 7600GS at 8.5K & 7950 at 38K.

256mb or 128mb is fine for playing at low/medium resolution but how fast your chipset is will really determine at what graphic levels you can play a game. Check my links below for info on how to pick a card. Good luck.
