Sounds like you have fun but if alcohol breaks down your inhibitions to such an extent please be careful to always have trustworthy friends around you when you are drinking. You dont want to leave yourself vulnerable to the bad people of this world.
No one can answer your alcoholic question without knowing more about your circumstances, how much do you drink, how often etc but if you feel it is a problem then you should seek proffesional help.
If you drink occassionally socially and alcohol does not cause a problem in your life and always make sure you are safe then where is the harm apart from the health issues.

Probably better to stop, and to stop going to bars to look for a date. It seems you might be the kind of personality that is likely to have problems with drinking later on. The danger sign is the mood change (what you describe as character change) when you have had a drink. This is how it begins for most of the people who end up being alcoholics. A better idea would be to find a hobby where lots of guys also hang out, something that really interests you. In an environment like that you won't be thinking about your own shyness all the time and as a result, come across as much more attractive and may eventually find someone you really like. Believe me, people who are looking for a serious relationship hardly ever look in bars. Good luck!

there's definitely a problem if you have to be under the influence of a substance in order to socialize normally. you could be on the way to becoming a periodic alcoholic. you can learn to become more extroverted and outgoing, other than drinking.

Actually, part of the definition of an alcoholic is that you change when you drink.
You are putting yourself in a dangerous state, probably people seem to like you because they can see that you are acting dysfunction-ally, and so they may be able to take advantage.

It's highly possible. My friend started off drinking, and she experienced the same thing you've described. But then, drinking wasn't enough, so she started doing drugs, and now she's addicted to heroin :-(. It's sad, but very very true.
