because they are racists!! i hate all those people. They think because of your skin color you will make something wrong or be a thief or something. i think that's stupid, We can't judge someone just because of his appearance.(well, sometimes, lol)

try going to Asia ( eg Hong Kong Singapore Malaysia Thailand ) whether you are black, white or purple they still follow you around like a shadow. Hoping to "help" convince you to buy any items that can be sold :)
In Bangkok, the moment the spot foreigners... "Ka-Ching!" stick to you like glue but their style very very friendly and smiley, everything is a yes even if its really a no...lol ...( on the extreme that is )
If you go to Petaling Street in Malaysia, or the Man/Woman Street in Hong Kong.... just browsing ( with handling ) you are kind of expected to buy something otherwise you are considered wasting THEIR time ... lol! In Hong Kong from personal experience they even tell you off... its nothing personal... the locals know it, they expect it and for the rest ... just take it as a "culture shock" lesson.
That was about 5 years ago... I hear these days they are a lot more civil in those places, but hey.... its a cultural experience no? Just as if I go to Hill Billy Country... I would expect to be "surprised" by Hill billy Behavior, or to any Ghetto area also.... each range of people will have their extremes that the "Locals" know and live along it, while the rest start to learn it the hard way ... lol

well, people tend to form a judgement on your outward appearance. are your jeans really baggy, and do u wear 'ghetto' clothing? if so, people will be inclined to think you are a thief. if a chinese person dressed like that, they'd follow them around too. also, if u are young many adults are less inclined to think well of you...also, i've heard that there aren't many black people in china..so maybe that's why their prejudiced.

cause they are racial profiling u do u live in a high crime area? Lets see how do i put this, i bet they have things stolen there and sometimes due to the area it is in, often times African Americans are the ones seen as the culprits, and the people are just tryin to protect their merchandise, its by no means right but i believe they are just trying to not lose product, shiity world we live in isn't it

There must be many cases of theft in that chinese store and that is why they are just being cautious. I truly believe it is not so much whether you're black or white or green...

Good grief! That is crazy. They do that? Then do not eat there anymore ever. Not until their behavior changes. And I would tell the manager WHY you are not eating there again. Don't talk angry, but just say "My friends and I have been followed around when we come here to eat and it makes us feel uncomfortable, so we will not be returning". Then go.
