Yes. That is why they cover their faces with so much makeup and paint on a smile. They are hiding their sadness from the world. They are portrayed too much as evil so not very many people like them anymore and kids are scared of them. That would make anyone sad :(

now if theres a smile upon my face its only there to fool the public but when it comes down to foolin you now baby thats quite a different subject but dont let my glad expression, give you the wrong impression, baby im sad.... the tears of a clown....

some of the clowns i've known are the saddest people in real life. including yours truly. till i got hold of my life and lived the true life of the clown.
