is the phrase "oh look (moving fingers) a little violin is playing just for you" a smart remark, and does it make you more mad?

No - one has actually done that for me/to me. NOT the type of person I would normally associate with that does things like that.

If you ask me, there are alot more important things to worry about than letting a smart alec remark like this upset you, so don't take it to heart. And don't forget - it also depends on the individual who's saying it as to whether their tone is rude, or whether they're just kidding around with you and maybe trying to lighten the mood a little bit in order to make you laugh. The inflection of a person's voice when they speak carries a lot of weight as to how the delivery of any particular message is accepted by the recipient.

I've never actually had that done to me.
