How do you play as 2 player on a XBOX 360?

My second controler won't turn on when I press the main botton, even with new batterys. Is there something else I must do first?

You may have to press and hold the on button and then the circle lights on the controller and the console should go around circles until it connects. I can't remember which quadrant the second player is but the one that is lit up on the controller should correspond with the one lit up on the console.

to connect a new controller 1. press and hold down the power button untill the controller turns on 2. make sure the power is on the console 3.press and release the connect button on the console 4. press and release the connect button on the controller 5 after the ring of lights flash once the controller is conected

Player - First light top left/ 2nd player - top right and round it goes.
If its not lighting up when you hold the X button down then you need a new controller mate yours is faulty :)
