You have to be brave to attempt a repair on this one. I did one for myself a long time ago. It involves removing top of cleaner. Removing Philips screws accessible inside machine. This is point where spring goes BOING! and you spend a couple of hours figuring out how to put it all back together again. Mensa type IQ helps or just good luck. I would try the other suggestions first, but they probably won't work. You can also accept that the cord won't go back in and wrap the cord around the m/c like thousands of other users.

Take the case off the cord housing using a Phillips screwdriver. Locate the spring mechanism and prise it out with a flat screw driver. Throw this part away and either buy a new one and refit it (for which you'll need at least two extra pairs of hands) or settle for manually wrapping the cord round the handle.

Sure, spray a little wd-40 or similar product in the hole that the cord comes out of. Take hold of the cord and jerk it quickly, pull not very hard, maybe 8-lbs. of pressure do it very fast. Still stuck ? Turn the vacuum upside down and pull the cord very gently and slowly. That should do I. Still no, turn it upright and gently pull on the cord. That did it right? See, nothing to it !

I even have the Hoover - SteamVac with sparkling Surge, variety F5914-900 and that i honestly like it. The cleanser is hassle-free to apply and works fairly nicely. It expenditures around $a hundred seventy five (finding on the keep) and it fairly is nicely well worth the fee. i offered this steam vacuum as a results of fact of each and every of the great comments it won.

sounds like either the spring or the catch that holds it has gone.

find out if they still do replacements

consider buying a dyson ;)

You should buy a Dyson next time - you can service them yourself! I think you'll have to get the instruction manual out and read that. Have you still got it?
