I missed the ride. But got on after Dave's recovery. And it has been a sensation for the masses. No regrets, the world is full of dangers.

But why do radio and media comglomerates continue to reduce their worth in the mainstream?

The men of Depeche Mode don't get the respect they deserve because they were one of the first bands to really use synthesizers for most, if not all, of their music. They really are the "godfathers" of electronica. Some of their earliest works were very pop, so some critics quickly dismissed them as sugar synth.

Also, unfortunately, some people believe the only "real" music is from bands with drummers, guitar and bass players, etc. What many non-fans don't know is that DM did adopt more traditional music-making, starting with "Songs of Faith & Devotion." Alan Wilder on drums was amazing, by the way. And all the boys know how to play guitar. Now DM has struck a happy medium for a mature and sophisticated sound that other bands only dream of achieving.

The 80's bands dont' get much respect for musical content, but depeche mode has stood the test of time. People love to rip on the 80's but you can't really rip on depeche mode. They made some great music and did their own thing. They are a great band and you can't lump them in with all the 80's crap that came out. They were original and did well into the 90's.

I love this group. I saw them live twice here in Athens and on their last concert we were 15.000 devotes. This group never played by the rules so do not expect the media to treat them like Madonna, although they deserve it.
