Why is this millennium consider the 21st century when it's only the year 2006?

2000=20th 2100=21st, why not?

Huh I don't really understand your question but, the century marks the years before the century, Like 21st century=yr 2000 and beyond.
Before the millenium it was the 20th century from yr 1900-2000.
Etc. etc.
