The major stores, such as Best Buy, Wal Mart, etc. will probably not update the Wii with any available due to selling out at retail locations. I know where I'm at that all the non-prerelease ratailers had lines of "Wii campers" starting as early as this past Thursday evening. All of the "gaming botique" chains I've seen had stopped taking prerelease orders on the Wii a few weeks past due to fear of not being able to fill their existing preorders. If you haven't preordered a Wii console and are after one, I would think your best bet is to hit all the retail stores in your area and hope for a bit of luck. If you live in a less populous area, chances are you'd find one at a Wal-Mart within an hour's drive or so. That has worked for me through many console releases.

The main reason that most major websites are showing that the Wii is not available as THEY'RE SOLD OUT AT THE MOMENT!!!

It's launch day! Most of the systems are already sold & the websites are erring on the side of caution to ensure that they don't overextend the incoming shipments of Wiis. Just give the sites some time (a week at the most) to sort themselves out.

Hey look, I don't know wether or not
"Joe's Video Game Shop"
still has Wii's available.
Maybe I should go there to find out.
(Drives there)
Uh oh, they are not in stock,
I might as well buy a game for my 360 while I'm here

i work at circuit city and i believe the reason they did this is to prevent private sellers from purchasing them all. it would give most of the real gamers a chance to get down to the store and pick one up at retail instead of spending an absurd amount of money on ebay.
