Ice skating with agroup of friends- place presents on the rink.
As far as money goes- it is a true statement, this: The thought counts.
The love, the effort part is already there. Now- make something happen. Anything.

Hi,
You don't mention whether she is a girly girl through and through, or will like other types of activities. To be honest, girly activities usually end up being quite expensive. But, since you're not girly too, it might be easy to surprise her. Do you often go shopping in Lakeside/Bluewater or posh High Streets? Harrods? If not, why not take her on a day trip to one such place?
How about a home makeover party, or if your house is too small, do you have a relative who could host it? Get some recipes for face masks etc from the Internet (just look on Google), get her to invite a couple of close friends. Rent/borrow/watch your own girly DVD and get some sweets/popcorn/favourite snacks from Tesco or Asda. If you have a digital camera, (or borrow one, yet again) do a little 'model photoshoot'.
If your daughter understands that you can't afford to do a big party, she'll enjoy it.
Also, are her friends all rich or same as you? Because some girls could turn up their noses at such events.
Or just ask her what she would like.
Hope this helps.

why dont you and her do a little shopping that day maybe take her out for lunch or breakfast go let her pick out an outfir , then later you could invite some of her friends over buy some nail art, polish, make up for her gifts and let her have a slumber party that night and they can do hair, make up,nails, let them bake cookies pop some pop corn rent a few movies or even have the radio on and dancing maybe buy her a game they might like to play, you know they do have the truth or dare board game at wal-mart if she dont alredy have it. Just buy some decorations get a cake have her friends over let someone take her out of the house for a little while so you can get everything done, you know a good old fashion suprize party. but try not to involve christmas in it because it's hard enough to have your b-day that close anyway
Good luck, happy birthday to you daughter hoop this helped for some ideas

i really like bestfriendthemom's answer. also slumber parties r good. r u her mum? if ur short on $$ take her to and outlet mall and maybe dinner at an olive garden. Tanger and Prime 1 outlets r really good-there r sum in san marcos texas(but i dont know where u live), and the stuff there is pretty cheap but still brand name !! this is wat my mom did 4 my b-day. u could also invite a friend or 2 maybe. going to movies and sneaking in pop and candy is also cheap and fun, afterward go have pizza.the manicure was great too, except that might be a little expensive, 4 4 girls it would prob. be around $150, but they will prob give u a deal for a party, just dont expect it to be too cheap. da vi nails is a good place to get this done!!ice skating is fun too!!

I sympathize with your dilemma. I have a son whose birthday is the first of Dec. and it is hard to arrange parties so close to the holidays because many are busy. And it is awful when people want to combine his birthday and Christmas gift, his siblings get to have their own birthday, and I think he deserves his birthday separate from Christmas. I am a single mom of four, so I also know what it is like to have limited finances. With my son, we usually take him and a few of his friends to the movie theater because a lot of movies come out around Christmas, like the Harry Potter ones, and this year, Eragon. I try to go at a less expensive time, like Sat. matinee. Also, I have the kids wear their jackets in so I stuff their pockets with candy and cans of pop so that all I buy is the tickets and popcorn. I've also rented a rollerskating rink party room for 50.00. It cost more if they provide cake, but we wanted our own anyway. So we got 15 kids entry and skates paid plus party room for 50.00 Also we have rented the swimming pool for 50.00 for 2hrs of sole use of the pool with a lifeguard provided. If you don't have a good deal on pool rental there, you could just have everyone come during open pool hours and have cake at a nearby park. Another party we've done is rented two lanes at the bowling alley, party deal is two lanes plus shoe rental for 8 and two pizzas for around 50.00 I think. If all her friends are girly girls like her, see if a salon will give you a group deal on pedicures or manicures and take her and her friends in for pampering.
Good luck! and Happy birthday to your daughter!

Have a theme party with something like 'come dressed in pink' 'or polka dots' or you could have an 'Alice in wonderland Mad Hatters Tea party' and everyone who is invited gets allocated a character from Alice In Wonderland by drawing them out of a hat. A friend of my daughter had one of these and my daughter was a rose. It worked out well as she dances and just happened to have a costume of a rose. Someone could be the Mad Hatter and another the Cheshire cat. And don't forget the Queen of Hearts and Alice herself. They could all sit down to heart shaped biscuits and tea.
I should also add my daughter was 17 when this party was on and the girls all really enjoyed it

Well, I'm 14, and for my birthdays since I was in grade 3, have been slumber parties. Leave the girls to their own devices, with chips, soda, candy, etc. They will amuse themselves, and end up playing truth or dare, and having a blast... Trust me, after years of slumber parties of all my friends, they are sooo fun. Just make sure everyone gets along...

well, you could maybe have a sleep-over. girly girls usually like that sort of thing. All you have to do is clean the small house and make sure you have enough food to feed a bunch of teenage girls. O, and if your house is small, make a limit. That's all i could come up with seeing that i ain't a girly girl either! sorry i couldnt' help more! good luck.

My kids like to have just one friend over for the bday and have something to eat and then just the two of them go to the movies. It works for me. I dont have to mess with thehouse being messed up and dont have a lot of expense.
