everyone...but don't understand why. I do talk to my customers. They know me. I know them. I keep up when they are sick, if a baby is born, if someone died, when the homeless guys are in jail, when ppl are on vacation, everything. My customers have been very supportative during my extended illness.

I just have one of those personalities where I draw ppl in to me. They say I'm the best cashier (on the planet...possible the universe). I really do care for them. I've had ppl get married and stop in to see me before they left for their honeymoon. I've had customers want me to come see them in the hospital. I've gone to their funerals. I was the first person to change one little girls diaper who didn't work at the hospital when I went to see one customer in the hosp. I had supported the parents through really wanting a baby and when the baby finally arrived...I had to be there too.
It's like being a celerbrity.

Why would other employees feel jealous? I have been at this job 16 yrs.

It's funny that inadequacies were mentioned. I always say
I just want everyone to be the best they can be and try to help them be their best. I have so much experience, I don't mind sharing.

I'd like to say Answer #6 needs to quit writing her acceptance speech. She won't get the 10 points or win the academy award for that dramatic answer. You have been disqualified for conflict of interests issues. You claim I don't have a life...but you are on yahoo answering questions...

People who hang out with everyone tend to have no real friends. Do you have any real friends, or do you just hang out with anyone who's available. Maybe its not jealousy issues, maybe your coworkers just think its lame or a little bit odd that you are so close to people you just meet on the street.

I used to work at a retail store where people came in when they knew I was working to get my professional advice on clothing selections, or because they knew I would order things from the other side of the country for them, and I knew what was going on in their personal lives because we would chat, but I NEVER mixed business with my social life, it is VERY unprofessional. I never dated guys I met at work, although there were good looking ones, and I never went out with people I helped. When I saw my customers out at the bars, I'd stop and say hi, and politely move on. Maybe you have been a cashier for 16 years because your managers know you are not professional enough to move up the professional totem poll.

Stop bragging about your cashiering skills and look at your personal life.

Gosh, I'd be jealous, too! ^_^ It's not everyday you meet a person who seems so perfect, it's actually a little threatening and makes me think of all my inadequencies.

You seem to do a lot of bragging. Either they're really jealous and you need to ignore them, or you bragg too much and people dislike it.
