It has to do with the fact that when you are sad and depressed your brain isnt having all the feel good hormones released and you start getting stressed which constricts your heart muscle which causes a tightness in your chest and it doesnt feel very good.

Sometimes when people are put in extremely emotional or uncomfortable situations (specifically those that are reoccuring or must be endured for extended periods), they develope what is called angina. Almost everyone has heard of it, or experienced it without even knowing it. Angina is a pain, discomfort or tightness in the centre of the chest which often spreads to the left or right arm, back, neck, jaw or stomach. It can be brought on by exertion, emotion, a large meal, or exposure to cold and can be relieved with rest or relaxation. To help relieve the discomfort or pain people use glyceryl trinitrate (GTN) tablets or spray which dilate the blood vessels and improve the blood and oxygen supply to the heart muscle.
You think with your brain, which tells your body how to react.
I hope this helps.

Me too, I guess that is where they get the saying "your breaking my heart" because it literally feels like it is breaking and you feel pain from it. Maybe we do feel emotions with our hearts, just because hearts can't think doesn't mean they can't feel...I guess when it comes to matters of feelings and emotions your body goes into the "heart over mind" stage.

I think that the heart thinks because when i get depressed it automatically hurt in my heart and stomach. I think the brain may play a part but the heart must have something to do with it or it wouldn't automatically hurt there.

Your heart does not hurt. IT's all connected to the brain. The feeling you get when you are depressed is in your mind. You can make yourself sick if you are sad too.

haha! no, you're heart can't think or make emotions, your brain takes care of that. I don't know why it happens, but I get pain in my heart when I'm sad too!

Neither your heart nor your brain control your feelings, but it's what in your soul. Your soul is crying out. eight er you tame it or it will take over.
The soul is often mistaken for the heart or the brain.
Actually the brain does play a small part when it comes to feelings good or bad.
First you think the thought and you react on it. It's like once you start having sex with a person, sooner or later you will feel that you are in love with this person when in reality your souls have cleaved together. God made us to cleave to our husbands and wives. Sex was that joining part(cleaving)
As far as you feeling sad, that is your soul yearning for it's father, and that is Jesus Christ. Your spirit wants to commune with Jesus so bad. it misses the talks and walks you used to have.

Is that your real name? Girl, if it is, you need to change to a nickname and fast! This place is full of predators!
If it's not your real name, then it's a pretty cool nickname.
