In 'Kingdom of Heaven' when Balian is followed to the fountain by the Christian soldiers?

The bald guy (I forgot his name) tells him that he must have known Godfrey since he carries his sword and then interrogates him about a certain man's height and eye color. Who exactly is talking about there?

he is talking about his father, he wanted to know by trying to trick balian to see if he actaully inherited his sword and not just killed him and claim otherwise (Balien's Father)
