Hello, I have 3 hamsters and 1 gerbil and the best thing to do is just wipe them down with warm water. Thats what they told me at the pet store when I bought them. Make sure you clean their cage every week and that controls the smell. If they lay in a spot they may have gone in they will tend to pick up the odor. Be careful with them they can get sick depending where you live.Good luck

"There are no safe ways to do it. So please do not wash your hamster if it smells or looks a bit grubby. Only if there is something toxic on the fur that cannot be cut off. This method carries the same risks as all others but this is the best way if you absolutely have to do it.
If your hamster smells bad, it may be sick and should be brought to the vet as soon as possible. To keep your hamster clean and healthy, make sure its living conditions are cleaned out regularly."
Hamsters will groom themselves

We bathed our class guinea pigs in a shallow dish of warm water and washed them down with face cloths and dog shampoo, it never seemed to bother them. Just make sure you dry him really well with a towel and do it on a warm day or in a warm room at least.

I used to bathe my hamster every couple months. I bathed her in the sink using a cup and dog shampoo. Try not to get her head wet. Cover her with a towel afterwards and try your best to dry her off before letting her run.

Hamsters don't need baths. They clean themselves. Try cleaning his cage more often.

I suggest using a wet wash cloth and washing him that way, instead of submerging him fully in water. And drying is also very important

i get a shallow bucket or large bowl and fill it up with luke warm water. the water should stop half his belly....long as hes not going to be completly submerges under water. you can hold him with one hand and use the other hand to cup the water and pour it on him. make sure it doesnt get in his ears and eyes...and NO SOAP! after hes completly soaked get a small towl and just towl dry him. hell start to lick himself and dry on his own.
