In Australia it is a well known fact that only 10% of residents read a local paper the yellow pages is the way to go.

You mean what % of bids will result in jobs? Or what your profit margin you will make? I would think that you can get at least $100 a square. Newspaper ads generally don't generate a lot of business. I would say that if your ad gets you 2 jobs you are doing well. The size of the ad and the amount of time it's run will affect your results.
