I, personally, LOVED Col. Potter. I liked Henry OK, but the show and the characters really came together when Col. Sherman Potter took over.
What about you?

By the way, Harry Morgan (Potter) is very much alive, and in his 90's.

Colonel Sherman T. Potter for sure. Henry Blake was fun and McLean Stevenson was a great actor, but Potter really made the other characters come out better. Harry Morgan put such a human touch to that character. Sure Potter was career man, but he was also human and that helped the other characters.

Of the two, the character of Col Potter was better, but the show was better in the early series with Col Blake. It was closer to the movie and was before Alan Alda got too much power and the character of Hawkeye took over.

It's close, but I like col Blake better because he was so cluless, Also Frank Burns is in all the Blake episode, and only like one season with Potter, and to me when Frank Burns left it wasn't worth watching anymore

I too liked col. Potter best.

Blake was okay....but IMHO some of his actions where really too weird, even for a comedy like M*A*S*H*!!!

Potter, definately! He was just more of a real person and he had a great sense of humor. I loved the way he dealt with klinger and radar. He seemed wise.
