My grandma told me to never marry an Irish man because I told her I liked the Irish boy who lives next door. She keep on saying that they are always drunk, they beat on their wives, and they like to have a lot of sex. She said that she used to be married to an Irish man before she was married to my grandfather and the Irish man used to abuse her and he was a drunk. I think it's wrong or her to judge all Irish men and I told her that not all Irish are like that. But shes not listening to me.

awww jus keep in mind old old old people like to stereotype. that's how she was raised, how she learned. But remember you are not your grandma. jus forget the guy is irish, and keep in mind he is just a man. I got grandparents like that too, they always badmouth white people, callin em ignorant greedy arrogant disease spreading dishonest racists. Pay no attention to the old old old people, they grew up in a different world from today.

And sure I'm pleased to meet you too! Sheesh. If your grandmother had married a black man that dealt drugs, slept around and couldn't spell, would you take her word and be asking here if all black men were cheating, ignorant drug dealers?

So, from this Paddy to you...

1) Many of us like a pint or two, but neither I or most that I know are drunk all the time.

2) I and all the other Celts I know would thrash any one who beat their girl and / or kids.

3) Yes, I like sex, but this has never been a problem. And I'll not speak for my friends as I've not been in their bedrooms or chatted up their wives about their sex lives.

I hope that answers your question.

Slan agus beannacht leat t'ye and tell her grandmother... pog mo thoin Eireannach!

no, not all irish men are like this. a lot of irish people do like to get drunk and in my opinion its in the blood, but really this is just a stereotypical opinion of the irish.

Your Grandma as with all Grandma's lived in different times. Whenever you find someone you are interested in, enter the relationship with your eyes open and don't let anyone abuse you.

There You can find that same thing in Blacks, whites, and Oriental. and others.... also you have to take in consideration that your grand ma grew up in a time when the Irish were one of the most racist group in america and they still are............................ So she really have a reason for not liking them and I also guess that she has not seen much of a change in them inorder for her to change her mind about them........

She is wrong. There is no group of people that all act the same. Don't listen to her.

You might never be able to convince her not to be racist, but don't let her ever make you racist.

You are right.
