According to my BEHIND THE HITS book, Jimmy Web said that MacArthur Park is simply a song about the breakup of a love affair. The "cake in the rain" line refers to a picnic scene in which the lovers had to run for cover when the rain came.

Actually the amount of time has nothing to do with cheating or not cheating. I know of a man who was having relations with 3 women... all 3 women ended up pregnant in the same month... all 3 had the same complaint... however I also know that at times my fiance can be speedy... however I know how often we have sex... lots of things could be causing this... however there would have to be more then just that to suspect cheating.

First of all-- this is not a Beatles song, so I don't know what that's about. This is written by Jimmy Webb-- very famous songwriter-- but not really into the 60s drug culture.

Originally made famous by Richard Harris.... there's really no reason to think it's a veiled drug reference. Though it was once voted the worst song ever written.

The lyrics refer to a "lost love" situation but the allegory to drugs, probably LSD (the cake), has been suggested.

I don't see a reference unless you count the green icing line but that would be a stretch. To me anyhow.

Someone left the cake out in the rain.... Hmm. Nah. Silly lyric though.
