I remember hearing a news story where they checked your mitochondria in your cells and match it in a database to others from other races. So I believe it is possible

I have seen two shows on tv about this. One said that this could be done with bood tests by specific companies. The second show talked about the shortcomings of the same tests with the same companies. I think that the truth is that within 5 to 10 years we will be able to find this information through blood tests. I know I want to get the tests when it seems that they really work, find out where I came from.

You can find out what nationalities you are by checking how many passports you have and what countries they are from. Most people only have one.
Ethnic origin is something different. Most USA nationals (for example) come from ecclectic ethnic backgrounds, but only have one nationality.

Check this out. It is a growing practice to determine your racial heritage from DNA. I think it costs about $1000, though
