If you are asking What is the British, or dare I say it, English National dress - then the answer is that there isn't one The reason for this is that the people were always a little better off than their compatriots on the continent. This meant that they tried to ape the fashions of their betters. So as fashions for the rich changed, then so did they for the poor. If you look at countries like e.g., the Czech Republic you will see that the National dress (for men) is actually a military uniform - the best clothes that they had.
