figures from 1997 but i guess they could change...

US=1,966 hrs/year per week=37.8

UK=1,731 hrs/year per week=33.3

Honestly I bet its more like US=40/week
UK=35/week based on growth figures n such.

The US by far! In th eUK people get 5 paid weeks vaction to start. In the US lucky to get any. UK People work 37.5 hr/week adv. US from 40 to 60 adv. Trust me I have llived and worked in both and the people in the US work much more for less. We make CEO's rich!

Are you talking about the amount of people working (employment rate) or the amount of effort, or the amount of time in a year a person works (total hours, or total days).

I know that the UK gets more holidays than the U.S. (I worked in a company that had a subsidiary in England and we saw their holiday list).

I also know that they have more generous unemployment benefits than the U.S. so they have more time to decide to return to work.

Finally, as far as effort, that would be purely subjective.

I'll put this question on my watch list, because I'd love to see your answer.

I have read that the Americans work harder but that the Europeans work more efficiently. Dollar yield per hour worked.
