I read hundreds of YA books a year. I have a book review website which I started this August.
http://blbooks.blogspot.com/
As far as other lists...
ALA (American Library Association) YALSA's page lists the "Best Books for YA" (BBYA) from present going back until 1994.
http://www.ala.org/ala/yalsa/booklistsawards/bestbooksya/bestbooksyoung.htm
For a slightly younger crowd...ALA's ALSC division lists Notable Book lists by year
http://www.ala.org/ala/alsc/awardsscholarships/childrensnotable/Default1888.htm
And for the ALA other literary awards (most of which are not YA related) this website works:

When I was a teenager I read a lot of VC Andrews and Stephen King, actually. I also read a lot of poetry, including Dylan Thomas, Allen Ginsberg, Yeats, Walt Whitman, etc. I read Shakespeare of course, and I took a classical lit course, reading things like The Odyssey, The Iliad, etc.
