I have two rats... a dumbo named Clyde, and a hairless named Pinky. Clyde is absolutely docile, laid back, and has never pooped outside of his cage. Pinky is scared of everything, won't sit still for even a second, and poops all over the room when I take him out of his cage. I'm worried because me & Clyde have bonded really well, but Pinky is really distant because he doesn't respond to any kind of affection.

He probably poops because he's so damn nervous and scared.

That explains the "You scared the sh!t outta me!" statement.

Pinky may not have a very good pet temperament. Some rats nowadays don't. This means he may never be as friendly as Clyde. But if he isn't biting you, I wouldn't give up yet. The more you handle him, the more he should get used to the idea. Be sure to give him treats when you handle him, if you can. I had one rat that was really scared of people (I think she was treated roughly). I kept handling her a lot and she got to be my most docile rat; so you never know. And even if Pinky never gets very friendly with you, he can still be company for Clyde, and that's worth something.

Omigod, you have a hairless rat?! lmao, have never seen one of those. Yeah well anyway, I think pinky might be a bit scared still. Try to handle him as much as you can while he is in the cage, and each day take him out a little longer until he gets used to it. Give him some treats too, my rats love little yoghurt drops, they have apricot inside and they do literally anything for those. Keep pinky close to you, so he feels secure.

Congrats on your new puppy. in case you in simple terms have been given him although supply him an entire day to swap in the previous taking him out. The pooping on your mattress is maximum in all threat a fear reaction to you as an unknown individual dealing with him in an unknown place. each so often whilst moved to an unfamiliar place rats wont consume or drink for a jointly as. To make him the main comftroble with you attempt leaving his cage door open yet no longer attempting to seize him. by way of fact he's a sub person he has probobly tailored to his old homestead and this pass could frighten him. Dont project although hairless rats continuously become cuddle acquaintances in the top great treats are Yogis, clean fruit and peanut butter. evade dairy.

I'd buy Pinky a larger cage so it still gets needed exercise and just keep him in the cage. I don't know a thing about having rats as a pet. I would like to know when you have them out of the cage, aren't they likely to get away where you can't find them?
