That's just like "dissin" people were trying to change it for a couple of years after Eric Sermon said dissin and it came out "dishin" because he has a lisp. I've heard both too referring to the same thing; bag & bad.

I believe the phrase "my bad" originated from the t.v. series "Buffy the vampire slayer".
It means "oops I made a mistake"
The only time I have heard the phrase "my bag" is in the 60's and 70's (e.g. "that game isnt my bag") meaning it isnt something interesting.

The phrase "My Bad" started as "My Fault". I was incorrect, therefore bad, hence "My Bad". The phrase "My Bag" started as That is what I do. They are not related at all.

I do not believe that these two lovely colloquialisms have any connection, aside from similarity in sound.

"my bad" means, of course, "whoops, that was my mistake."

"my bag," as used by an instructor I once had, meant "my bag (of tricks)," and referred to things which the instructor was knowledgeable of/interested in, to a degree which facilitated teaching of said topic.

"My bag" means that something is "your cup of tea"; in other words, you like it.
"My bad" means that you are admitting you made a mistake. It reminds me of the Latin phrase "mea culpa".
