I bought a new iMac and attached it to my DSL modem in my ohme office and it works fine. Now I've moved my old computer to a back room. I have a spare DSL modem packed away somewhere. I wanted to know if it is possible to use both computers using different modems on the same phone line before I go looking for the spare. Thanks

NO 2 modems will not work on the same line, this would create a huge problem...

What you need to do is get a router to plug into your modem, then you can connect up to 4 computers to 1 internet connection...

If you get a non wireless router, you will need to have both computers close enough to the router to run a cord from the router to each computer...

If you dont like that idea, get a wireless router, and put a wireless card into the desktop pc... then directly connect 1 pc to the router, and the other one can be wireless and anywhere in the house.

for a dsl router you can unfortunally only use 1 dsl router but if you have a hub you can plug it into the dsl router and if your dsl has say 4 ports and you get 4 hubs with 4 ports on each you can go up to 16 pcs but i never had 16 pcs and would probably go slow.

You can have the main modem that came wiht your DSL provider in your main "office" or bedroom, if you are the administrator. Plug in a wireless rounter on it. The other comouters in your house can just be wireless. Thw other modem is probably old and incompatible now.

Not all dsl modem are the same, depends on what kind of DSL line you subscribe i.e. ADSL or SDSL. Also, you cannot use two modem at the same in one single phone line. I doubt it will work.
