At a local school , a kid thought it would been funny by putting in a harmful prank into the school paper. Saying that he's going to take a gun into school and shoot some people.. The district took a decision on expelling him for the rest of the school year. BUT that {some reason } made a stink , his parents wanted the superintendant and pricipal fired and started a support rally around wanting him back into school , because the punishment was too harsh.
So what do you think

When a child makes a decision to make a threat that involves the lives of other children then he should also be aware of the danger he has put himself into. Not only has he endangered other children but himself as well. Parents or other scholars might decide that he is a danger to the school and may decide to take him out. I know that when people are threatened they can resort to other means to protect themselves. The head of the school did the right thing. Not only is he protecting his scholars but the young man in question. Legally speaking the young man may be detained by police or FBI due to past experiences. Most school killings have been advertised in some way or other. The child should be sent for evaluation and his premises should have been searched to establish whether his intentions were serious or not. Well done school head. If the police don't do there job then you have an obligation to all human lives on your school grounds. Bottom line. If the child returns to school and gets killed or kills others who will then take the heat?

First of all a kid of any age to come up with something like that, thinking it would be funny, needs his head and heart examined. Child or not he knows how everyone feels about guns in schools and threats made. Thankfully the media has helped there. There is no excuse for his actions. I agree with the school on his punishment.

kids need to be taught the seriousness of the situation
it's not a joking matter anymore and has to be taken seriously
because the schools and the authorities don't need to be bothered by pranks from idiots. i have a friend that simply found a bomb threat in the girls bathroom at school and turned it in...thinking she was doing the right thing and she got expelled herself for that.....although it was probably a prank it shows the seriousness of the situation. pranks need to be eliminated altogether so they can recognize the real threats

I think a prank like that these days is like yelling "Fire!" in a crowded building or "Bomb!" on an airplane. It's not a bit funny and the kid got what he deserved.

I thought they did the right thing. You can't play like that not with all the school shootings. It's better to be safe than sorry.

If they are going to be that way with the school. I think the school should play hardball back at them and file charges for terroristic threatening.

No, I don't think that was to harsh. Any threat to do bodily harm to others should be taken VERY seriously, whether it was meant to be a "prank" or not.
