You can find out as early as 13 weeks.
I found out at 15 with my son last year.
This time, my doctor told me at 13 weeks he was pretty sure a girl, when i went back for my 16 week appointment, he confirmed it was a girl.
I asked him at my 10 week appointment when he was talking about it, and he said things start to form around then. He is a high risk doctor, which is why i go every three weeks, so i'm sure he knows what he is talking about.
Although, if you are only gettting one ultrasound and want a pretty acurate answer, you should wait until at least 18 weeks. It also depends on how your baby is positioned, and how good the tech is. My OB doc does them every time, i know a lot of people have them done by techs.
So, I would wait as long as you can!! But 13 is the earliest i was told!

I'd say 20 weeks. Thats when its supposed to be easy to see. Unless like in my case your child decides to be shy and all you see is 2 feet and some darkness. If you have the money for a 4-D sono I'd get one of those. My friend said you could tell when the baby was very young he would be a boy. Don't always trust what you see though. I was told a story in parenting class the other day of a baby they swore would be a boy. Come to find out they had a baby girl who liked to give thumbs up.

It is best to find out the sex around 20 weeks but you can find out as early as 16 or so weeks.

I know someone who found out when they were 14 weeks along. The DR was "pretty sure," but they still double-checked at the 20 week ultrasound. The 20 week ultrasound is the one to pay attention to-- Hang in there...it's tough not knowing!

Genitals are visible about the beginning of the second trimester, although still very small and very hard to determine unless done by an expert.
