I always thought the school guidance counselor was someone to talk to regarding vocational adviceor deciding on a college or something...or even classes.....or if you just need someone to talk to...but no it's not necessary...

i got help my last 2 years of high school and all 4 years of college. like everyone else said, it really depends on the person. however, it is important to note that if you are asking about seeking help, that may be a sign of how interested you are. There is certainly nothing to be embarrassed about and most people who go, really do feel some kind of relief from the anxiety they are experiencing for whatever reason.
If you do decide to go for it for guidance reasons remember whatever you talk with the person about can never be revealed to anyone. Also, if you just want to try it out without commitment, you can dial 2-1-1, which is a place sponsored by united way. they might be able to help you. If you decide to meet with the help in person, when you leave it should feel like a huge weight has been lifted from your shoulders.
good luck!

Well it mainly depends on if the student wants the consuling. If he doesn't want to go then he will just block out the consuler and not really care. On the other hand if the student is going through hard times then he will prabably take the messege to heart and listen.

If you don't care for student counseling, why the hell are you asking? I'm sure there are a few students every day who feel compelled to go divulge their stresses and pressures. Kids have problems, too. It's absurd to think that only adults need it.

Um, it depends what kind. I have to wait to see a councilor before I can schedule for my next semester at college which is retarded. In high school the councilor was all you needed. She helped me apply for nearly every scholarship that I could possibly had the requirements for. I don't think anyone should be forced to see them but they should be there if you need help.
