why do i continue to waste time here? I mean it is not a real waste but it's kind of miscellaneous and I find that before I knoew it I have spent three or four hours. NOT cool!

what is it about it that makes it addictive, and how do I avoid getting trapped by it?

I'm a Level 7, I wasted way more time here than you.

You have to learn how to click the "x" button in the right hand corner...as hard as it is...

I have read (here on Answers) that if you stay away for a month or so, then you will be deleted. I don't know if that is true or not. Anyway, like you, when I reached Level 6 I will bid Yahoo! Answers adieu. After answering thousands of questions I am becoming less and less addictive.

I'm addicted and its my first day lol. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts interfering with your actual life. For example, you can't go watch a movie with your boyfriend because someone may have a question for you.

I think its a perfect use of free time, you learn something and also help someone in the process.

I think it's the sense of helping someone in need. We all want to do good deeds and this is a simple way of doing them. I wouldn't worry about it unless it starts to interfere with your daily activities

You probably should consider substituting another activity...like talking on the phone, or writing (by hand), letters to friends. Sounds corny, but it keeps you occupied, and your friends will love it, especially with the holidays coming up.

I think it's a sense of social interaction. And when u answer a question and make someone's day, you feel good and you want more of that feeling.
