in the old tv series the waltons, i just caught a epsiode the other day were they had them old ladies in it the baldwinn sisters. they made the moonshine in the series or, something thery called, papas receipe. our question is as far as you can remember from the scripts were they drunks in the scripts too always wondered--

No, the Baldwin sisters were proper Christian little old spinsters.

Pap pa's recipe was the whiskey they made and they were sort of oblivious to the fact it was alcohol and illegal. The whole town protected them and men prized their beverage making abilities.. In those days it was legal to make wine, beer and spirits in your home for your own consumption but the "revenuers" wanted to tax you. So the little old ladies had no idea they were doing something illegal; they just wanted to avoid being taxed - and there was "Prohibition" during most of the series.

You never saw anyone sloppy drunk, although father Walton came home well oiled once
