Most big manufacturers over-price their computers. Especially Dell and HP. Check out a 'white-box' laptop, which means that while you don't have a brand-name on the cover, the parts inside are still the same. check out a wholesale company for this.

There is no way you can get a decent laptop for 50 bucks unless its an old machine for parts...
The rumors you have heard are not true, HP and Dell both manufacture their own laptops and do not buy them for 50 bucks...

You'll never find a brand new laptop for $99. You may want to check some "Black Friday" sales (the day after Thanksgiving) to find some good deals on laptops, but you may have to camp out outside the store to get it...

Dells desk tops are OK but there notebooks aren't they break alot, Ive had to get mine repaired twice already.Ive never heard of one for 99$ new, reconditioned maybe.
