i say that MJ, Wilt, and Russell all have a claim. Jordan was unbelivably athletic, could shoot, defend, dunk, rebound, and was soooooo clutch. that said, wilt was a big man who could score, rebound, block shots, and pass all while running the floor. no one else has come within 19 points of his 100 point game, and he averaged 50+ points per game over an entire season. and he was on two of the three greatest teams of all time, the 1967 76ers, and the 1971 Lakers. Bill Russell was the best defender ever, could rebound and block shots like no other, especially at his size. and he was the greatest winner, he won 11 titles in 13 years in the nba, including as a player-coach.

Oscar Robertson.

The guy averaged 30.8 points, 12.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists a game in '61-62 and is the all-time leader in career triple-doubles with 181! And it was all done 44 years ago when there was still no (in my perspective) science of basketball. He did it with sheer talent and willingness to win. MJ could be flashier, Wilt could be stronger and Bill could be smoother, all could be a great choice to be the greatest, but looking in a statistical point of view and measuring the more "complete" player, Oscar wins my vote

If your talking about a player who won the most championships (a good indicator of greatness) then this title should go to Bill Russell of the Boston Celtics who won 11 championships in 13 years.

Hope this helps.

Bill Russell or Wilt The Stilt

either one

MJ was good, but I think if he played Russell in his prime he'd get sqashed.

i would say wilt chamberlain. wilt led the league in assists twice, in addition to his 6 scoring titles, and his 100 point game. jordan is a good choice but sadly no where near wilt. jordan is a scoring machine, but comparing who wilt played against and the inferior competiton jordan has, it is no contest!!!
