That is a hard question to answer. You might try eBay with a reserve price, I would guess a seventy-five to one-hundred dollar reserve, depending on your taste and willingness to part with it. Another option would be to check in with a local gaming shop. These stores usually won't offer much for a console, more so if it is from a previous generation, but since you do have an unopened system, that is definitely in your favor for getting a better than standard offer. A lot of the "game boutiques" will also offer you more in-store credit than cash if you are looking to buy from them, which may help you to knock a chunk off of the price tag on a 360 console.
Lastly, if it's financially viable, you might consider keeping your Xbox, as well as purchasing a 360. Not all of the original Xbox games are compatible with the 360 as of yet, so some XBox titles you may find appealing may not work on the 360 just yet. This option may or may not be worth considering: If you don't have any favorite Xbox titles, there's no huge reason to hang on to the Xbox.

Don't listen to the last guy because halo and halo 2 are backwards compatable with the 360, you just need a harddrive and an xbox live account for the update.

I just turned in my xbox, wayyyyyyy old. One of the very first originals and only got maybe $45. I would see what gamestop/EB games quotes you at, you should get a lot more for it not being touched or opened. You'd probably get a lot more on ebay though.

The 360 can play Halo and Halo 2 right out of the box. But for the other games, you might have to wait until someone writes the emu for it.

I think you should keep the XBX especially if you have a lot of XBX games, but if you have no XBX games, then sell it. Put it on ebay and see how much you can fetch. My guess is that the most you can get is probably around 130 dollars because I think that was the last price point for a new XBX.

dont sell it at all. the xbox 360 isnt fully backwards compatible ie. it cant play all the original xbox games only some of them, so just save the xbox u already hav and buy a 360.

You should keep it. Most of the great games on X-box (Halo, Halo2, etc.) can only be played on the Xbox, not 360.
