The language of Japan is Japanese. If you want anything more specific, then you'll need to actually ask.

The national language in Japan is Japanese (how ironic!) There are three "scripts" or alphabets.
Hiragana (a,i,u,e,o ka,ki,ku,ke,ko ect.
Katakana for non japanese words like Amerika or Kandi (Candy)
Kanji is for more ancient. Used in Japanese city names and peoples names. There are up to 5000 kanji, 3000 learnt in School!

Nihongo or Japanese has, basically, Katakana [old Japanese], Hiregana [Buddhist Japanese] and Kanji [Chinese hieroglyphs] in their writing and language.
Presently, they also have Romaji, or Japanese written in English.
Have a nice day.
