Reading Salo or the 120 days of Sodome (hard and nasty) and Philosophy dans le boudoir (phylosophy in the bedroom). What do you think of his books ? How bad would it get if you started applied his principles ?

Don't get me wrong, not into the idea of applying even half the stuff i read in his books, that just goes way too deep. Salo is an awful book. Thinking more on the moral corruption side of things. Tks 4 your comment.

When the Marquis de Sade wrote his books, his intention was not to advocate those practices, but rather to expose the depravity of the aristocracy through his writing. His writings are not pornographic, they are meant to shock, disgust, and distance the reader from the characters. He was writing a shocking exposé of people in the same social class that he was in, rejecting them and their behaviour. His books are political writings, on a sexual theme, NOT erotica. If anything they are a shocking example of abuse of power, violence and perversion. They were meant to disgrace and subvert the people in authority in France at that time, which is I believe the real reason he was thrown in jail.

Whilst his general themes are a bit hardcore, especially back then but even now (which you have to admire really) the man himself was intelligent and his unapologetic attitude is an interesting one to read up on.
I'm guessing in saying his principles you're suggesting be like the man rather than be like his books? You'd likely succeed in some professions by being able to cut through the more emotional stuff but I think you'd probably end up being a rather scary human being.

It's perfectly OK to read De Sade and get aroused by it -- like any erotic prose -- but things can get complicated if you want to bring that fantasy into reality. You will need a CONSENTING partner, and you should sit and meet with him/her beforehand to figure out what each of you are looking for from a BDSM relationship. Get blood tests. All that stuff in Salo like ****-eating etc. I think can make you pretty sick. Above everything -- be healthy and keep your partner healthy, too.
