. Caucasian, like any "race" is only vaguely defined. Caucasians would be those people originating from the Caucasus Mountains and westward, through Scandinavia and the British Isles.
. This traditional definition ignores the fact there is a transition in features through the Caucasus region such that it is not possible to draw a line between Caucasians and Mongolians or Asians, or to say about some people from the region that they are "Caucasian' or 'Mongolian'.

The term Caucasian race is sometimes used to refer to people whose ancestry can be traced back to Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, South Asia, Russia, and in certain areas of Central Asia.
In Europe (especially in Russia and the surrounding area), Caucasian usually refers exclusively to people who are from the Caucasus region or speak the Caucasian languages.

Sir Webster says - It is thought that the original home of the hypothetical Indo-Europeans was the Caucasus (South east USSR between the Black Sea and the Caspian). It loosely refers to the white race, but embraces dark skin people from this area as well.

As I read the posted answers and I think about my origins, I cannot help but wonder in which racial category I can fit. I have ancestors from Spain and Portugal but also of Venezuelan aborigines. My phenotype is European but, in popular terms, I a "mestizo".
Latinos are the product of the mixture of many, if not, of all races of the world. We would have to run blood tests to determine the percentage of genes inherited from them.
So, my personal inquiry is: Would Latin-Americans be classified as what they look like, regardless of their ethnic background?
