Just because the Calendar ends in 2012 doesn't mean the World does (even tho the Mayan's thought so and stopped the calendar there). I'd say within a year or two each way, give or take.
December 21 - The Long Count calendar used by the Maya civilization of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica completes its thirteenth b'ak'tun cycle since the calendar's mythical starting point (equivalent to 3114 BCE August 11 in the proleptic Gregorian calendar, according to the "GMT-correlation" JDN= 584283). The Long Count b'ak'tun date of this starting point (13.0.0.0.0.0) is repeated, for the first time in a span of approximately 5,125 solar years. The significance of this period-ending to the pre-Columbian Maya themselves is unclear, and there is only a single known but incomplete inscription (Tortuguero Stela 6) which records this date. However, it is conjectured that this may represent in the Maya belief system a transition from the current Creation world into the next. The December solstice for 2012 also occurs on this day.

actually the mayan calendar doesnt say that...it only stops at the year 2012..i mean..like...there was a calender for every single year..except it stops after 2012..meaning there is no calendar for 2013 and so on according to the mayans. the mayans' predictions were always right so far,, but they didnt predict that humanity will end..they just didnt do the rest of the calendar..stupid humans think thats a sign saying that the world will end,, the mayans never predicted that it will happen..so ..no

Why in all heck would you want us all to die in 2012?
Life is for living, enjoy every moment of today. Stop worrying about death!
There is a saying that goes " If you worry, you die. If you don't worry you die. So why worry?

I have studied Mayan culture for 37 years as an scientist for a large cocoa consortium trying to reproduce, in effect their exact reciepe for chocolate. Not only have we be unsuccessful to date, but as an adjunct to this particular research we have determined that given the current growth in worldwide obesity, the worlds supply of chocolate, ergo brownies. will end in the year 2012. Death will be the sole option. Not to mention walnuts will become worthless.

If you truely want to know when the world is going to end, then you need to read "The Holy Bible".... look under revelations and there is your answer. By the way, there is no year listed... so you will have to go by what it tells you. Good luck.

No can be definitive on anything in the future. So, maybe yes. I would say it is a 1 in 10^1,000,000.
