Beer is made by the fermentation process using bacteria. Having the top off could make it go flat (they add Carbonation at the brewery). If the beer taste OK, then there isn't a problem, but if it doesn't spit it out. I'm just wondering what type of person would not have just poured it down the drain the next day?

It's not gonna hurt you. It might taste a little funky, but it's not unsafe. I had a bottle of beer in my fridge for well over a year and I finally drank it a couple weeks ago when I was scrounging around for a beer. Didn't hurt me at all.

Yes, beer does go bad. Get rid of it. My son opened a Fosters and it smelled real bad.
