I have a question about cage size for guinea pigs. Is a 30"L x 18"W x 16"H cage big enough for a guinea pig? I will be keeping the cage in my bedroom, and I don't have a ton of room, so I'd like to go with a minimal cage size (but not TOTAL minimum). I get all kinds of different answers when I ask people about cage size for guinea pigs, please be as accurate as possible. I want my guinea pig to live as long as possible (obviously). Also, I will be giving my guinea pig lots of "floor time" (at least 1 hour per day, at least 5 days per week). Thank you for your answers in advance!

30 x18 is fine for him, if you look in the books they all recomend a 24x12 but i feel thats to small once he is full grown, i kept my pig in a 30x18 successfully for years have fun with your little guy

I'm looking at my kids 3 guinea pigs (2 cages) and they are about the size you describe. They move around pretty well and seem to be happy. The kids too have them out a lot running around the house & yard.

Good luck!

That seems small. I have a guninea pig and they get pretty big when they get older. If you are worried about space you could put the cage by your bed and then put a tarp down under your bed and fence of the rest so it can run under the bed but come out a little. That is how I have my pig. He loves to run around all the time. what ever you do make sure you have a place for him to hide becouse pigs like privacy.

Yes all four of my guinea pigs live in cages that size. Though you might want to keep your pig in a different room as there rather noisy at night and they like to scatter bedding.

Wow that seems so tiny for a guniea pig! http://cavycages.com has some great plans on building your own cage for a fraction of the cost! My chinchilla cage was 6 feet tall, 3 feet wide, 3 feet long and it only cost me $80 to make. The pet store chinchilla cage was 2feetx 2 feetx 2feet for $150!

if your gonna give him lots of time out of his cage, that would be a great size, it wouldnt be too small. Just make sure u let him run free enough :)
