everyday situations where telling the truth from a lie can help prevent you from being a victim of fraud/scams and other deceptions...

Signs of Deception:

Body Language...
Emotional Gestures & Contradiction...
Interactions and Reactions
• A guilty person gets defensive. An innocent person will often go on the offensive....
Verbal Context and Content
• A liar will use your words to make answer a question. When asked, “Did you eat the last cookie?” The liar answers, “No, I did not eat the last cookie.”...

Other signs of a lie:
• If you believe someone is lying, then change subject of a conversation quickly, a liar follows along willingly and becomes more relaxed. The guilty wants the subject changed; an innocent person may be confused by the sudden change in topics and will want to back to the previous subject..."

body language-looking around, touching or rubbing the nose, closed hands, legs crossed away from you, feet turned away from you, covering the mouth, blinking a lot, higher or lower pitch in the voice, story line not straight. Sometimes people are just nervous or trying to hide something for a different reason than lying though, so make sure first. Some people have trained themselves not to do these things, too, so it's hard to tell. You gotta look at the honesty of their lives and their actions as a whole.

If you become more observant, you will learn that people have little things they do when not being honest. Movement, playing with items or avoiding the subject. However this is a skill and it takes a while to be sure of what is going on. In the meantime if you think a person is lying, keep it to yourself as you may loose a friend.

If you suspect they are lying, just look them in the eye and query their statements.Truth is the antidote for deceit,so just tell them exactly what your innermost thoughts are, about what they are saying.
Sometimes you can read people like a book. The way they speak and move and the tone and volume of their voice all indicate what is really on their mind.Study what they say and do and try to work out what they are not telling you.
My favorite methods of deciding if people are deceiving me include consulting the Tarot,Runes,or I Ching.Ultimately intuition is the key factor in gaining insight into the unknown. There are numerous expedient methods of doing this, which all involve the elements of intuition and chance.

One of the biggest ways i've found to find out if someone is telling the truth or not is through eye contact. I've noticed that when people lie to me, they tend to look away from my eyes, leading me to believe they are lying. Other ways might be through actions, for example, like if they are fidgeting with things while talking to you. They might act nervous around you, too.

Congratulate that person and tell that he/she is lucky to be dealing with a gentle person like you.
Others may be quite harsh on learning that someone is lying!
Anyway, also tell that you respect that statement as that person's perception of the said situation.

Look at their eyes and also see if they are fidgeting, like crossing the legs, sratching the nose and ears, holding their hands together, swallowing saliva, nervousness etc.

if they are gittery is always a good sign...jumpy, defensive things like that show that they are nervous. If they change their story on you, they are lying.....something i picked up in my psychology class, if they look to their left, they are making something up, if they look to their right, they are remembering something.

study phscological tells for about 48 months.
take mental pictures.
play silly games to induce lies and take a mental picture of the persons face when their not being honest.
then take a mental picture when they are.
you will soon be able to read certain people probly better then a lie detector.
this will not come in handy when you realize your girl friends tells and you know shes been dishonest.
actually its a great reason to get a new one so......................................
thinking in pictures is a gift.
this will not be easy for most.
