You can die from smoking. the longer you wait to quit, the harder it will be. Quit now while it's still easy.

I started smoking when i was 13 too, and i finally quit at 21. i tried everything from classes, to havign people, support me, to the patch, to actually using other drugs (very very stupid). But truthfully the only thing that really works is you just waking up one day and making the decision- for whatever reason, you wanna quit. Because if you try quitting when your not ready you will relapse. Just find reason to quit, find out why your smoking... whatever the reasom may be, there is definently a better way to handle it. And if all of this doesnt change your mind about cigs... imagine how much more appealing and attractive you would be without smelling like an ash tray

Cold turkey is the best way! Please stop smoking NOW before you do even more damage to your body.
Otherwise, you can go to your doctor and ask for a prescription for a nicotine patch or gum. Under laws of confidentiality, your doctor is not allowed to tell your parents for what purpose you were at the clinic, or even that you were there at all.
I once heard a quote that said, "Wisdom is doing what you will be happy to have done in the future."
Look at yourself a few years from now and imagine how relieved you'll be that you quit smoking while you were so young. Good luck!

Try going cold turkey. get rid of all of your cigs and (sorry) your smoking friends. If they are real friends, they'll understand. Get some gum (it don't gotta be that nicorette stuff), just some gum. YOur parents will just think you are suddenly addicted to gum. Chew, chew, chew. Every time you even think about smoking, chew. And then, wean yourself from chewing (that will be easier). sorry, but in order to do it without your parents finding out, it will be a whole lot harder than if you just tell them, and ask them to help you! O, and if you find a hobby, it might help to, like a shop (wood working, not the mall) class or art or something. Good Luck!

I don't know how you are getting the cigs. but you need to stop because it is bad for you. In your case you will have to stop cold turkey. Because of your age even if you get prescription from a doctor you would still have to go through the insurance company to get it paid for and your parents will question it. As for the Doctor. You are a minor so it is VERY LEGAL for your parents to walk right in there and ask about any charges to their insurance company. As for you buying the gum and the patch you may be carded. So your only luck is cold turkey.

i'm glad you realize you have a problem!! but i have a couple of questions; how do you afford cigarettes, cuz i know they is expensive?, when did you start?, what were you thinking all that time?, and what kinda question is "is this bad for my health?!! come on sister you've got to get it togethor. life is short and you have cut down on the time you've got, by smokin' them horrid little buggers. The best way to quit without having your parents find out you started is by destroying your life. let me tell you right now, you need to get your parents help, pronto, and you need to tell them the truth, pronto. you will be doing everyone a favor by doing that. trust me, you parents love you and will not hate you if you tell them the truth, they will be happier if you tell them the truth than having to find out in a way in which you would rather them not to. and honey i know it's hard to quit, i have many family members who have done it, but if you get help by your parents and fill them in, you will have the most succes in quiting.

Talk to your doctor or school nurse. Hang out with those that won't feed your addiction. Not only just the smoking but also drinking, doing drugs, or having sex. All these things can effect your health. Also talk to God above He will also help you.

OH gods, your WAY too young to be starting such a bad habit. Just quit, stay away from smokers. Hang out with your parents for awhile till the urge goes away, enless they smoke. Just don't go where you can get them. Where you getting them from anyways, its not like you can buy them yet! So either your stealing them or your friends are stealing them from there parents, and your getting them from your friends. Stealing is a horrible, absolutly horrible thing to do. I believe its as bad as incest.

I started smoking when I was 11, and quit 3 months ago (I'm 15). I did it cold turkey..and stopped hanging out with people who smoke.

I'm doing really good. I still want one sometimes, but I keep myself busy so I don't think about it.

Join a sport..it'll keep cigarettes off your mind, and you'll be with other people who don't smoke.

PS-My mom has never found out!
