The simplest answer that I could give to this answer is to say that "...with new technologies, comes new forms of entertainment." And, I do agree with you. The majority of media entertainment is computer generated imagery and it seems that these media are lacking the intimacy that was once enjoyed by our generation and generations before us.

Because they've sold, out like everyone else. Disney is a mega-corporation that used to be run by a brilliant visionary whom actually cared about the kids and families his company served. After he died, Walt Disney Studios quickly began to lose sight of that vision. 'The Jungle Book' was the last picture to be released while Walt Disney was still alive, and there hasn't been one as good since. I thought 'The Little Mermaid' came close, but all the new ones seem to be more like Broadway productions than the kind of movies Walt made; and they also seem to be leaning toward a specific social agenda, which I find a little silly and all too obvious, almost insultingly so. The diversity thing has just gotten way out of hand. Think about it: Aladdin: Arabic Pocahontas: Native American The Lion King: African Mulan: Chinese Emperor's New Groove: South American Lilo & Stitch: Hawaiian Nemo: Handicapped I mean, come on...what's next? Homosexuals? Yeah, they could do a new all gay version of Bambi. Have him with run off with Thumper at the end. Why not? It's a small world, after all... ...I think if he weren't a popsicle now, Walt Disney would be rolling over in his grave.

CGI animation tends to grab peoples eyes more. I sometimes watch them just to enjoy the animation but I'm interested in that kind of stuff. Also, because most CGI movies have been geared for all generations, people now associate them as so and thus, more people pay the ticket price.
To answer your question simply:
Supply and demand.

It takes a lot of artists, drawing lots of individual frames (cels) to do a sophisticated animation movie. All that adds up toa lot of money. It is much less expensive these days to use a computer and do it the modern way.

CGI movies just make more money and now that they own Pixar it just means more dough for them, they save the classic animation for the T.V. and straight to DVD movies.

Home on the Range was to be Disney's last animated movie.
Disney sucks anyway, they stopped making good movies quite a while ago.
