Two years ago I got custody of my niece from cps. I had an abuse allegation on my record also. When I filled out the foster parenting papers that asked if anything would come up on a background check I was totally honest. I had to write an affidavit about why the allegation was made and what steps I had taken to change my life to prevent it from happening again. Example: parenting classes, living arrangements, and so on. I suppose it might depend on what the allegation was and if it was true or not. I guess it may depend where you are at too. Some counties are stricter than others. From my experience though, CPS usually tries to keep the family together when possible. Good luck!

How MINOR was this allegation ? Under certain circumstances Custody could be granted to you. Then again, the CPS might try to find another alternative for your grandchildren.

It would depend. Was it founded or unfounded? If founded, what was it? And what are the children's other options for custody? The answers to these questions will determine what kind of chance you have.

If you were in my court, I wouldn`t let you have them. Now you know why your grandchildren have been put into the system.
