Sorry, I disagree. Apples produce fruit on two year old spurs. Too much pruning and you'll get a meager fruit production. Apples should only be pruned when they are young to give them good shape and then lightly every couple of years or more to open the center and let more light in or remove cross over branching.

YES. When they are young they need structural pruning to give them the proper open shape letting the sun reach all the branches. After they are of bearing age they need pruning to keep them from bearing crops that are large enough to break branches and to keep the proper structure (eliminating horizontal branches and narrow crotches)..
