First of all why do you think you will be a bad mother. Even to think about this and worry shows that you care and that is what really matters when raising children. There are a lot of books out there and agencies that can assist you for free in learning about caring for a baby and parenting. Nobody gets an owners manual so you will like everyone else learn by doing this. Babies are not that hard to care for you just have to feed, change, hold, put to sleep and love love love love. You will be fine. I have three children and I worried about this as well I believe in you and you are going to be a fabulous mom, all women expecting have these doubts and are very nervous. Go have a warm bath and sit down and read or go for a walk. You need to work on distracting yourself when you begin to worry and feel these negative thoughts coming on. Good luck and hugs.

Babies can cause stress and play havoc with your nerves at the best of times. It is fairly natural to feel anxious and alarmed about things. When you also have a problem involving smoking, then your stress levels are probably hitting a record level by now.
As you grow more accustomed to the arts of being a mother, you will get better all the time.Practice makes perfect.Being a parent is all about caring for kids.

Hi,

Great post! Quitting smoking was the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, and I thought I wasn't addicted!

Here's what I tried before finding success: hypnosis, those fake cigaretts, the nicotine patch, and group therapy....none worked.

I finally tried this HERBAL patch I bought 6 months ago on the net. They claim a 97% success rate. Well, it worked! They had a sweet deal which was a free 10 day trial for only $3.95 including shipping (it's regularly $53 for 10 days)!!

I don't know if they still have that deal, but it's worth a try.

I smoked a pack of Newports (highest nicotine and tar rate of all US cigarettes) a day, I was an alcoholic who drank straight liquor. But, when I found out I was pregnant I stopped everything, including taking my medications. I didn't want a sick child,or a dead child. My daughter has never had an ear ache, rarely gets sick. I don't let anyone smoke around her either. I am pregnant again, and again I quit. I wanted a cigarette so bad, but I just remind myself that my baby will be in a smoke filled womb, not developing correctly. Tell your Dr.

Ok i quit smoking 6 weeks ago. Not easy at all. I had got strep throat and didnt want one then after i got better i just decided to quit. A few tips. Whenever you are craving a cigarette drink a full glass of water if that doesn't help go outside and jog or run until you are out of breath because when i used to smoke when i would get out of breath i would not want one. Get rid of all ashtrays, cigarettes, lighters, and matches. Don;t let anyone smoke in the house or car. Just try your best not to think about it. As time goes on it will get easier. And i wish you the best of luck. Take care :)

The love you give will be given back to you a hundred fold in the end..
Best wishes..

Why are you scared? Is something bothering you?
At this time, you need the most support from your baby's nanny, mother, mother-in-law, husband and close friends.

If this is your 1st child. it's normal to feel that way. Just relax. You will do fine. Take it one task at a time so that you don't feel overwhelmed and if you need financial support contact a social worker and they will put you in contact with what you need.
