I've been a fan of this band for several years and lately they've become more popular but I still don't think they're getting the recognition they deserve. Let me know what you guys think of them.

I love Lacuna Coil! I saw them a couple of years ago when they opened for Opeth, and they blew the place away.

I explain them to others as a harder, more metal, Italian, and better version of Evanescence. That tends to pique people's interests. Of course, it's not a completely accurate description, but it's close enough for most.

Sounds like they are on a well-worn path, to me. I mean, does EVERYONE have to play a 7 string guitar, for God's sake? I realize the appeal of the gutteral, brooding guitar sound here, but, it's just not very interesting (most likely because it's the most overused guitar tone on the planet!). And there's a good reason for the Evanescence comparison. Why not be DIFFERENT? Or at least INTERESTING. I seriously couldn't make it past the Depeche Mode cover. If you want a band that's forging it's own path, but is still largely unknown, check out Porcupine Tree. http://www.myspace.com/porcupinetree They are generally heavy, sometimes trippy, but always INTERESTING. No, they aren't my favorite band. It's questionable if they are in my top 10, but it's just that when I hear bands like Lacuna Coil, or Evanescence, or other bands in that genre, it just makes me want to hear "P.T." because I feel that THAT'S what these bands could aspire to, if they would forge their own path instead of doing what's being done by a bunch of other bands. And I don't mean that they should try to sound like P.T., but it wouldn't hurt to sound a little less emotionless and cold, and perhaps mix in a few other guitar sounds or playing styles now and then.
