The easter Bunny and the Easter eggs are both symbols used in the Pagen religion, that time of year is their fertility celebration and the Bunny and the Egg both symolize fertility. Estres (not sure on that spelling) is the godess of fertility, Easter is derived from that name.

Halloween is also Pagen

The Christmas tree is also Pagen

No, I haven't seen the Easter Bunny hiding eggs. However, I think that what your late husband did was a wonderful thing to do for the children.

The Easter Bunny is not a modern invention. The symbol originated with the pagan festival of Eastre. The goddess, Eastre, was worshipped by the Anglo-Saxons through her earthly symbol, the rabbit.

From the earliest times, the egg was a symbol of rebirth in most cultures. Eggs were often wrapped in gold leaf or, if you were a peasant, colored brightly by boiling them with the leaves or petals of certain flowers.

Because the Easter bunny is a Pagan; therefore, he uses an ancient symbol of fertility, the egg, to celebrate the arrival of spring.

The Easter Bunny is a giving rabbit which is said to leave gifts, usually Easter baskets for children at Easter (or at springtime). It originates in Western European cultures, where it is a hare rather than a rabbit.

This is a fun one. It's like the farmer who dropped an large egg behind a rock. Two jack rabbits were all snuggled up beside the rock. When his mule stumbled by the rock and the two jack rabbits ran out across the field. He only saw their big ears flopping as they ran across the field. The farmer yelled. "I've got mule eggs!" "I've got mule eggs!'' I quess if this joke was real, the rabbit would want to hang on to some thing so rare. The rare eggs might be worth something.

Just think, if you were a bunny and laid an egg, wouldn't you feel like a freak? And wouldn't you want to hide them so no one knew what you did?
