Allman Brothers Band: "Whipping Post"
"I've been run down; I've been lied to;
through time that womans made me out to be a fool;
she took all my money; wrecked my brand new car;
now she's with one of my good time buddy's drinking in some cross town bar;
sometimes I feel; sometimes I feel...
like I've been tied...to the whipping post; tied to the whipping post;
good lord I feel like I'm dying"
George Jones: "He Stopped Loving Her Today"
Heartbreaking lyric quote: "he stopped loving her today; they placed a wreath upon his door; and soon they'll carry him away; he stopped loving her today."
Cinderella: "Don't know what you got till it's gone"
Poison: "Every Rose Has It's Thorn"
Marshall Tucker Band: "Can't You See"
I could go on and on!
Whoever said "November Rain," by Guns 'n Roses is right on! It's at the top of my list, "because nothing lasts forever, and we both know hearts can change and its hard to hold a candel in the cold November Rain"
Holla!

"50 Ways to Leave your Lover" Simon of Simon and Garfunkle?Just slip out the back, Jack, make a new plan, Stan,
"Two out of Three ain't bad" Meatloaf. I want you, I need you, but there ain't no way I'm ever gonna love you, now don't be sad, 'cause two out of three ain't bad. You'll never find your gold on a sandy beach, you'll never drill for oil on a city street. I know youre lookin for a ruby in a mountain of rock, but there ain't no Coupe deVille hidin' at the bottom of a Cracker Jack box. I can't tell you that I'm something I'm not, no matter how I try, I'll never be able to give you something. something that I just have'nt got!"

Mary J Blige - Keep your head up.
The major and most spellbinding lyric of the track is,
"Keep your head up to the sky, now I don't need to tell you why, just keep your head up all the way, don't look back now, this is what I have to say"
When you hear it, she could be speaking either to her recently departed and cheating x or herself, giving herself the pep talk to not be tempted and ditch/ignore the cheat and move on, search the skys to hide her face and her tears and contemplate what a new future holds.
It could move you to tears if you are in the same place as she when she wrote this track, you know exactly what she means and there is a hint of sadness and hurt in her beautiful voice throughout.

I will survive by Gloria Gaynor - its a real oldie, but sure hits the spot. Heres a few lines from one of the verses.
It took all the strength I had not to fall apart
Kept trying' hard to mend the pieces of my broken heart,
And I spent oh so many nights
Just feeling sorry for myself. I used to cry
But now I hold my head up high
And you see me, somebody new
I'm not that chained up little person still in love with you,

I have several, but I'll pick In Your Room by Devics
"...There was something about the room that day, and how I knew I'd go away, now all I can do is stare at you and think what I'm about to do."

Sort of a Prayer by Red Delicious is good too
http://p207.ezboard.com/fband80481frm1.showMessage?topicID=79.topic
I'm sayin'
Sort of a prayer
That I've held too long in my throat
I'll say it as I walk away
You and I know
Sort of a prayer
That you find what you want so
And even though it hurts this bad
You and I know
We should've let it die a long time ago
We should've let it die a long time ago

ok, my other half recently walked out on me and I spent a long time listening to 'I Know It's Over' by The Smiths. The Smiths were MADE for moments like that.
"Oh Mother, I can feel the soil falling over my head
And as I climb into an empty bed
- Oh well... enough said...
I know it's over, but still I cling
I don't know where else I can go..."

The only VERY good Take That Song: Back for Good.
"But in the corner of my mind I celebrated glory
But that was not to be
In the twist of separation you excelled at being free
Can't you find a little room inside for me."
DON'T GO ROBBIE!!!

well if your breakin up with some one i like hard fi - better do better
BUT if its your heart bein broken then if this doesnt shed a tear then nothing will
goo goo dolls - iris
And I'd give up forever to touch you
'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't want to go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
'Cause sooner or later it's over
I just don't want to miss you tonight
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am
And you can't fight the tears that ain't coming
Or the moment of truth in your lies
When everything feels like the movies
Yeah you bleed just to know you're alive
And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am

"Your Time IS Gonna Come" by Led Zeppelin
Lyrics:
Lyin', cheatin', hurtin, that's all you seem to do.
Messin' around with every guy in town,
Puttin' me down for thinkin' of someone new.
Always the same, playin' your game,
Drive me insane, trouble is gonna come to you,
One of these days and it won't be long,
You'll look for me but baby, I'll be gone.
This is all I gotta say to you woman:
*Your Time Is Gonna Come X4
Made up my mind to break you this time,
Won't be so fine, it's my turn to cry.
Do want you want, I won't take the brunt.
It's fadin' away, can't feel you anymore.
Don't care what you say 'cause I'm goin' away to stay,
Gonna make you pay for that great big hole in my heart.
People talkin' all around,
Watch out woman, no longer
Is the joke gonna be on my heart.
You been bad to me woman,
But it's coming back home to you.
* Chorus
Nobody's gonna call X4

This would depend on what kind of break up it was
-----------------
Think of Me (From Phantom of the Opera)
By: Andrew Lloyd Webber
Think of me
think of me fondly, when
we've said goodbye
remember me
once in a while, please
promise me you'll try
When you find,
that once again you long
to take your heart back,
and be free
if you ever find a moment,
spare a thought for me
We never said
our love was evergreen
or as unchanging as the sea...
but if you can still remember,
stop and think of me
Think of all the things
we've shared and seen,
don't think about the things
which might have been
Think of me
think of me waking, silent
and resigned...
imagine me, trying too hard to
put you from my mind...
Recall those days,
look back on all those times,
think of the things
we'll never do...
there will never be a day when
I won't think of you
We never said
our love was evergreen
or as unchanging as the sea...
but please promise me,
that sometimes
you will think of me
