I have had the experience quite a few times. It will be agonising experience, of course, momentarily. At the same time, the tasty food in your mouth will be goading you to munch further! At that particular moment you will be in a dilemma whether to munch or not.

One of the worst things about biting your tongue when eating is it will swell up and cause you to bite it repeatedly - I hate it when that happens!

Yeah, for some reason I do it all the time. I really don't enjoy the process of eating as its so tedious and there are very few foods I like the taste of so I tend to want to get the food down my throat as quick as possible and hence accidents will occur.

Its happened lots of times in a minor way, but once I managed to bite really hard on the back part of my tongue and it made a crunching/gristley noise. That hurt for a few days and made eating awkward.

Yes, I am always biting my tongue and also the inside of my cheeks whilst eating food, sometimes I do it two or three times a day and it always seems to happen when I'm eating something that I really enjoy. Until you have experienced it yourself ,you don't realise how painful it is

Yes, and the inside of my cheek.
I've also got a broken molar at the moment which sometimes cuts the side of my tongue if I'm not careful.

OH MY GOD does it hurt, I've done it twice and it usually makes your tongue swell up for a few days. It is vile and a cruel joke of nature to place a soft delicate organ next to the hardest and sharpest bodily substance eh?

yup!! wats even worse is when you've been to the dentist and had an anaesthetic injection then tried to eat while your mouth is still numb (as i did the other day). not only can you not feel yourself being bitten, but the swelling isn't apparent until after the anaesthetic has worn off!
